sharing my passion for classic and heirloom sewing

Gotta love the classic look of gingham. I often forget about gingham when picking out fabric, but it's a good, timeless look.

I adorned the smocking with a piece of tatting. Truthfully, I meant to add some piping here but I forgot so I handsewed some tatting on after the fact.

I also made this Easter/Spring time look. And the little girl is starting to inspect my work ;-)

I closed the back of the dress with hand sewn snaps and fake Mother of Pearl buttons. Well, the buttons are real, but the snaps are doing the work. It's so much easier to dress a wiggly baby that way.

Children's Corner Jamie pattern is such a versatile pattern and here I've used the yoke pieces along with one super wide piece of gingham (60" wide) to make this dress with a continuously smocked skirt. If you know me, you know I try to keep seams to a minimum.
