sharing my passion for classic and heirloom sewing
This pattern is nice since you don't have to worry about a back closure. Instead, the right simply overlaps the left side of the dress. You can close with buttons or snaps -- or my favorite, mock buttons with snaps underneath. That's the easiest for wiggly babies.
I smocked it using DMC floss size 5; a friend gave it to me and I've never seen anything like it. I wasn't pearl cotton, it was a really thick floss. I've been meaning to look into it further and order more. It was nice to work with.
Children's Corner Bishop pattern includes two views Ki and Gwen. Ki closes in the front and Gwen closes in the back, so realy, they are the same construction but in reverse, if you will. I made this version of Gwen using some yellow cotton broadcloth.
I also threaded this floss through the entredeux work of the lace on the sleeve.
