sharing my passion for classic and heirloom sewing
Fabric Selection: ultra-fine Spechler-Vogel Nelona Cotton Batiste. This fabric has a luxurious sheen that is exquisite without overshadowing the beauty of your little girl. It is a high-end heirloom fabric.
Embroidery designs: about ten hours of hand embroidery work goes into this garment's yoke front. Alternative designs to the featured butterfly are available upon request.
This dress is perfect for portraits, birthdays, flower girl responsibilities, and other special occasions. There are three fabric tucks on the skirt of the dress. The skirt is made entirely of one piece of fabric so the tucks are not interrupted by side seams. Heavily hand-embroidery adores the front of the dress, and the back of the gown is left plain. The gown closes in the back with the use of a "mock" button for sizes 3-18 months. A snap actually holds the gown closed, while a pretty mother of pearl button tricks your eye. This is the easiest way to dress those wiggly babies -- no button holes. After eighteen months, little ones are typically strong enough to pull the snaps apart while wearing them. So sizes 18 months - 4 years are finished with hand-sewn buttonholes and mother of pearl buttons. The sleeves feature a silk piping detail, but French lace can finish the edge of the sleeve instead. Finally, the deep hem is finished by hand.
